Personality: She is shy and timid. She has not had much interaction with people and is skittish around them. To her fellows she is seen as friendly and intelligent, but is angry and unforgiving to the so called fatcats and any who do and have associated with them.

History: A studious child she never was much for a social life, not because she was unlikable, but because she did not seek it out. Her father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but she insists her father was legitimate. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by dire rats. Valida was horrified and prayed that her father was alright. However, she heard that her father had died fighting off the dire rats.

History: Her father raised her in a mountain cabin. Her spouse left her for another, whom she beat to an almost bloody pulp. She did not win them back, but she came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. Some 10 years later her spouse died after the birth of her daughter. Heartbroken, Barbena never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her daughter whom she trained as her mother had trained her before.

She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to gnolls demanding more tribute than usual.
