Personality: She believes there is no problem she cannot solve with sufficient elbow grease and persistence, if it is the best or most economic solution matters not. She loves her children and doesn't want them to worry about her. She loves to share her singing with anyone who is interested.

History: Valanthe hails from a village terrorized by drow. Her father disappeared, and while she tried to raise money to find her father, she was betrayed dozens of times. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

Motivation: Find a way to reverse the transformation of her sister.

History: Ribbles was raised in a hard working conservative environment. Being born in the west, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the west for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way east. He ran away from his former home and has been making his living as a Cartwright for the past few years.

He took every job he could get his hands on, but the opportunities for Gnomes in the east were limited. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.
