He was mortally wounded, saved by a kind and fast-acting Human doctor. He was granted divine powers by his dying brother.

Motivation: He is compelled to act according to his religious beliefs; and he has a rivalry with the church that dominates his actions

History: Raised by wardens he was only a novice when brigands swooped upon their monastery and killed most of the order. He married young, but lost his spouse to brigands. After a long history of fighting, Ernest and his spouse have recently divorced.
