Upon awakening, Astaro discovered the rest of her party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Astaro fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing her own horrible transformation.

History: She was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. She always admired psionic-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. Some 5 years later her spouse died after the birth of her son. Heartbroken, Valida never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her son whom she trained as her mother had trained her before.

Personality: Quiet and reserved he prefers to listen than to talk. He will nod occasionally and communicate nonverbally. He refers to his adoptive father for almost all things he is unsure about, which are numerous. He is very much still a child and has not developed a drive for self-dependency.

History: Grom was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Ranger, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Ranger in service of a powerful lord somewhere. When the war came and ruined his parents he was left adrift. He was a hard man then and has only learned to fight more as time goes on. He is searching for what he claims is his rightful reward.
