Aside from being a slave or a gladiator, there isn't much legitimate work for Half-Elves in Joan's homeland. Joan decided to take the middle way and become a bodyguard. She has gone from town to town till she finds a spot where she can set up a sustainable business.

History: She was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. She was one of the best in her class, and was picked up by her current employer. She quickly showed her capability and was soon promoted to a head role. She now owns her own business.
