History: She was born in the west, but her parents moved at a very young age to the east. In her 11th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Valida alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She left for the west, certain she would find work there.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious western family, he was no stranger to responsibility. He always admired martial-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature dagger.

Motivation: Doesn't want to be a Carter and was forced into it by his family; and marry his brother to traveling adventurers
