History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. In his 15th year, his parents were killed by a brigands raid, leaving Shadow alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by brigands, and he desires to right it.
