History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. He has had some formal writing training, and achieved minor success. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to orcs demanding more tribute than usual.

Personality: She cares much about the opinion of others, both in good and in bad: when keeping in line with her opinion, she thinks highly of the other person, but when opinions clash, she can get violently argumentative. She takes great joy in being the best Merchant in town.

History: From birth she was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.

Motivation: A need for knowledge about a nearby landmark; and retire the richest woman in the south
