His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Personality: Merla speaks confidently about a variety of topics with grace. She is clearly well-traveled and educated. More though she will beg to come along on any journeys. She will attempt to stowaway on any ship she can in the hopes that it will get her further away.

History: She was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. In her 18th year, her parents were killed by a drow raid, leaving Merla alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to drow demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: She feels kind of lost in life; and she wants revenge against drow
