History: He was born with several neurological imbalances, which makes sleep difficult for him. It may also be what makes him so good at details. Being born in the east, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the east for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way north. Due to his spouse's obsession with being a Herbalist they were divorced and he won custody of their son. He worked as a Mason, and he later adopted a second son.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious northern family, she was no stranger to responsibility. A freak accident while working with her Bather father left her crippled. Some 9 years later her spouse died after the birth of her daughter. Heartbroken, Abalaba never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her daughter whom she trained as her father had trained her before.

History: He was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. In his 17th year, while out on a day-trip, he returned to find his hometown burning and destroyed. He found his mother impaled in their home, and his father beheaded. He saw the man who walked out, and charged him in a blind rage. The man easily evaded and defeated him, leaving him to live broken and terrified. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
