History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. Through the years after Cloud was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Cloud's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

Motivation: He has money and likes to spend it; and wants to raise his children well

History: Born to a Painter, his father struggled to pay the bills. He was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature sai.

Motivation: He doesn't get along with people that don't share his tastes; and a need for knowledge about a nearby landmark

History: Pyra was raised in a hard working conservative environment. Her parents divorced when she was young, and her mother gained full cudstody. She was regularly beaten by her mother, who blamed her for driving them apart. She tends to her Laborer job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations she has.
