History: Balam was born into a poor family. Growing up, he dreamt of becoming a Fighter, to bring honor to his family’s name. When he came of age, he applied for a position with his town's local guard, looking to work his way up via merit and eventually become a Fighter in service of a powerful lord somewhere. He found a children's book about a Tiefling Fighter who fought for good and justice and never realised it was just a child's story. He modeled his life after the story, seeing himself destined a hero. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.

History: She was born in the east. Through the years after Nija was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Nija's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She left for the east, certain she would find work there.
