It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. She has done her darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: She was born at the edge of vast desert. Like her father and her sister before her, after school she went straight into learning to become a Miller. She has achieved small success as a Miller.

Motivation: She is terrified, and will act out of fear; and balancing her hectic life and new miller responsibilities is difficult

History: He was born blind and as such lacked many opportunities for work. He helped his father out around the business and became quite the natural. He tends to his Laborer job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.
