Personality: A skeptical and narcissistic man, Kaladan's first love is himself. His second love is also himself. He dislikes loud distracting noises, but is overall hospitable. His biggest love is that of knowledge and as such will purchase any books or pay to listen to tales that travelers might have.

History: He was born into a rich family. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

History: Sold as a small child to a slaver, Vola was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. She moved out north to avoid the crime she committed. Recently she has begun working with bootleggers and crooks.
