History: Oppleby lived on a farm with his father, near the main road leading to a nearby town. He moved from fad to fad and when he turned 15 he discovered music. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

History: From birth she was tutored by a cruel and relentless mentor. She was an apprentice working in her father's forge. She ran away from her former home and has been making her living as a Merchant for the past few years.

Her gray eyes lackadaisically let the world flow into them.

Personality: A grumpy gal she will invite people to lunch so she can critique them. Yet she still seems generally likeable, like a lovable grump. To her fellows she is seen as friendly and intelligent, but is angry and unforgiving to the so called fatcats and any who do and have associated with them.

History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. While studying, she fell in love. They married and had a son. Unlike her family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, she wanted to work in the city. She has been working here for the past few years.

Personality: He fancies himself a trickster and likes to rely on his wits to carry the day. He cares for his older siblings and likes to be recognized by them. He has a minor phobia of water and hates getting wet.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. Being born in the west, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the west for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way north. He ran away from his former home and has been making his living as a Painter for the past few years.

Motivation: He has a rivalry with the Church that dominates his actions; and find a way to reverse the transformation of his sister
