History: Sold as a small child to a necromancer, Bertram was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He has been a successful dealer in antiques buying low and selling high.

History: His parents moved while he was still in utero so he is the first generation to be born here. As a young adult he joined a group advocating for an improvement in Human conditions. He left for the east, certain he would find work there.

History: She was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. Her father had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted her to inherit them. She now travels the world, in search of power and loot.
