History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. He has had some formal poetry training, and achieved minor success. After a long history of fighting, Valafar and his spouse have recently divorced.

History: He was born several months after his father was called into army service. He was an adventurer many years ago and he formed a blood bond with his Dragonborn companion (his 'brother'). He has drifted from career to career and currently works as a Marshal.

Motivation: Further expansion of business; and a need for knowledge about a nearby landmark
