History: He was raised in a white middle class family as the only child. His mother was a soldier and died while he was still young. Valafar was left his mother's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. Unlike his family, who was content to work in a sleepy main town, he wanted to work in the city. He has been working here for the past few years.

Personality: He is fixated on the number 20. He counts his steps and bites of food to keep in track with it. He seems to be used to being ignored and not questioned about it. He believes the world needs to unite to get rid of dire rats once and for all.

History: He was always a brilliant, if unscrupulous mind. In his 13th year, his parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Laucian alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by dire rats. Laucian was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the dire rats.

Motivation: Retire the richest man in the north; and his name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it

History: Faral hails from a village terrorized by giants. Her father had invested heavily in several trade routes and wanted her to inherit them. When she grew older, she became a bit more civilized, usually hanging around bars and taverns. She began work as a mercenary for hire. She would embark on any mission as long as the price was right.

Motivation: To unite with her sister; and many giants want her driven away
