History: She comes from a rich northern family. Through the years after Birel was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Birel's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: He was always a brilliant, if unscrupulous mind. He couldn't stand his childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with his mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.
