The father sought out extralegal help and others began closing their doors. She saw this and took pride in her father's willingness to do anything to win. She got away from her former life and has fallen to alcoholism.

When money was particularly tight he was walking through alleys when he overheard a Engraver hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. He made his way to the other competitor and parlayed his knowledge into a job. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.

Motivation: He made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it; and wishes to resurrect an old love
