History: Sold as a small child to a brothel owner, Ermina was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. She eventually earned her freedom when her former master disappeared. History: She was born into a rich family. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

Motivation: She wants revenge against illithids; and her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by illithids, and she desires to right it

History: Born to a poor family in the city he treasured whatever gifts he got. A serious injury left his father unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He now spends his time doing works of charity.
