She modeled her life after the story, seeing herself destined a hero. She was granted martial powers by her dying sister.

His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He bought a greataxe and has really upped his game hunting, due to his understanding of decoy and ambush.

Motivation: He loathes his own lifestyle; and he is unsatisfied with his job
