History: Sold as a small child to a brothel owner, Cask was an assistant, and all too frequently test subject. He eventually earned his freedom when his former master disappeared. A serious injury left his father unemployed and in need of constant care. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. Since then, he has sought to make the best of life.

History: She was born into a rich family. She inherited a moderately successful company from her mother. Under her leadership it has flourished, and using capital from her venture she effectively owns an entire region. She left for the west, certain she would find work there.

Personality: While he is on the job, he is grim and serious. He understands how dangerous the world is and the need to stay safe. He is terrible with names forgetting people's names several times before they finally stick; this causes him no end of embarrassment.

History: A studious child he never was much for a social life, not because he was unlikable, but because he did not seek it out. He sought a place where he would be rewarded solely on the merits of his skills. This search led him directly into Miner work with an outfit from a few towns over. Miner work suited him well, and with each successful project, he earned more gold and more respect from his peers. He has set out to sabotage the competition.
