Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by drow. Ekemon was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the drow.

History: Born in a small village he learned the ways of the warrior from his father. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Gerard grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Gerard. He left for the north, certain he would find work there.
