History: Born in the south to a Stylist, Whurdred learned a great deal about her mother's area of expertise. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Whurdred grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Whurdred. She now owns her own business.

History: A powerful necromancer made him what he is. He was an apprentice working in his mother's forge. He ran away from his former home and has been making his living as a Knight for the past few years.

History: She was born in the east. She inherited a moderately successful company from her father. Under her leadership it has flourished, and using capital from her venture she effectively owns an entire region. She got away from her former life and has fallen to alcoholism.

Personality: He hates dire rats. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. The war was a terrible time for him, and Kâka does not often speak of it. When he does, he does so with a strained expression and tears in his eyes.

History: He was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. A freak accident while working with his Crown-heir mother left him crippled. He has built up a small fortune and can afford his own way.

Motivation: A deep hatred of dire rats.
