His father disappeared, and while he tried to raise money to find his father, he was betrayed dozens of times. He then took over the family business and is one of the better Bookbinder for hire.

Ostracized due to the arcane powers of his oldest sister, he and his siblings struck out on their own. In the process these unassuming Dragonborns became a terror of the countryside. He got away from his former life and has fallen to alcoholism.
