The family never returned to the desert due to the painful memories there. Damaia took refuge in the ruined castle and found the beat up lance and armor she uses now. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

She was regularly beaten by her mother, who blamed her for driving them apart. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious northern family, she was no stranger to responsibility. In her 13th year, her parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Decarabia alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, she was adopted. After months of barely getting by, Decarabia managed to ambush a major caravan with a load of valuables. Instantly wealthy, she made her way to the capital under a new identity.

History: He was born in a small desert village. He has had some formal poetry training, and achieved minor success. Recently a tribe of drow attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Ekemon fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.
