When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. He was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching him a humbling lesson in trusting others.

She was regularly beaten by her mother, who blamed her for driving them apart. She is untrained/undisciplined, which makes her dangerous.

While she appears to be a normal Half-Elf, she's... not quite right. Perhaps she's slightly insane, or otherwise so mentally alien to the rest of the world that she plain doesn't fit in. After a long history of fighting, Millicent and her spouse have recently divorced.
