History: He was born to loving parents in a slum to the north. His spouse left him for another, whom he beat to an almost bloody pulp. He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.

She saw the brutality and swore off her fighting aspirations, taking her younger sister on her back after seeing her parents die, and fled the country. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: Born in the north to a Miller, Lilli learned a great deal about her father's area of expertise. Like her father and her brother before her, after school she went straight into learning to become a Miller. When her spouse passed she lost her only source of income but claims to her sons to still be retired.
