History: She was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. She always admired martial-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. She has built up a small fortune and can afford her own way.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. He made a point of taking high paying jobs and getting most of it up front. He has drifted apart from his friends and has been working freelance. Each gave each other a copy of their signature bastard sword.

History: Left-Handed was born with her father's beautiful face. Her parents died when she was young, and she was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Left-Handed grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Left-Handed. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.
