History: She was raised happily, as a normal child born to her father and mother. Her father taught her the rudiments of the Cartwright arts, while her mother instructed her in etiquette, music and courtly manner. Nella was born on a far northern island where she grew up under the tutelage of her father, an expert Cartwright. Some 7 years later her spouse died after the birth of her daughter. Heartbroken, Nella never married again. Instead she focused her life to raising her daughter whom she trained as her father had trained her before.

Through the years after Gunnloda was born, her mother became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Gunnloda's mother didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.
