History: Akmen hails from a village terrorized by dire rats. His father was supposedly a charlatan fortune teller, but he insists his father was legitimate. He has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and he desires to right it; and revenge

History: Born in the south his family was never financially stable. He has had some formal writing training, and achieved minor success. He became a Marshal soon after.
