Through the years after Alvyn was born, his mother became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. Alvyn's mother didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He tends to his Sage job now, and dutifully fulfills any obligations he has.

She was a general practitioner in the north for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way south. She has built up a small fortune and can afford her own way.
