He was working during a period of war, and as one of the natives he lived in fear of joining the others in being slaughtered. He saw the brutality and swore off his fighting aspirations, taking his younger sister on his back after seeing his parents die, and fled the country. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by orcs. Gilthur was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the orcs.
