This search led her directly into Butcher work with an outfit from a few towns over. Butcher work suited her well, and with each successful project, she earned more gold and more respect from her peers. During her travels, Maynild and her party rested in a cavern that was (unknown to them) infused with powerful dark magic. Upon awakening, Maynild discovered the rest of her party dead, transformed into horrible, mindless undead versions of their former selves. Maynild fled the cavern, stopping for breath at a small pool, and only then realizing her own horrible transformation.
