History: He was born to a wealthy landowner in a frontier town, living a normal and happy childhood. After coming to the age of reason, Shane took it upon himself to study the necromantic arts in their entirety; because of this, he was labeled a dark omen and banished from his homeland. He has achieved small success as a Bather.

Gruk decided he wanted neither the life of his mother nor that of the evil petty criminals he associated with. During his early adolescence, he took a sudden opportunity while working the docks and commandeered a vessel that was left unmanned. Recently he has begun working with bootleggers and crooks.

Motivation: A rival would like him out of the picture; and he is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences his actions
