Personality: She is irritable and easily angered. She is a bit of a bully and is not afraid to use her stature and powers to intimidate and hurt. When she's not drinking or sleeping the drinks off, she's doing writing.

History: She comes from a rich northern family. A serious injury left her father unemployed and in need of constant care. Her family became saddled with debt trying to care for her infirm father. After a long history of fighting, Ranala and her spouse have recently divorced.

History: Born to a Servant, her mother struggled to pay the bills. Her family was turned out during the war. She and her family wandered south to less war torn lands. She has taken up leadership of the village's small militia in response to dire rats demanding more tribute than usual.

Motivation: Her name or reputation has been wronged in the past by dire rats, and she desires to right it.
