To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Gerard. He was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

Personality: He considers himself the protector of his home. He feels this is his duty and calling. He is however greedy and will demand payment and proof of collateral's value and will produce a merchant's scale to make sure he is not cheated out of a speck.

History: His father raised him in a mountain cabin. Over the years he perfected his riding and shooting skills. He routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.
