History: Oriel lived on a farm with her mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. She was one of the best in her class, and was picked up by her current employer. She quickly showed her capability and was soon promoted to a head role. Being a Merchant kept her interest for a while, but then she became depressed and bored. His family became saddled with debt trying to care for his infirm father. He eventually got the idea of being the protector of his homeland from reading books, and has made it his duty.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by gnolls, and he desires to right it; and he made a deal with a demon which lead to his current lot in life, and he's becoming increasingly nervous about it
