He did not win them back, but he came to a realization. To get what you want from life, you must take it. He has drifted from career to career and currently works as a Junk Dealer.

Motivation: His name or reputation has been wronged in the past by drow, and he desires to right it; and balancing his hectic life and new junk dealer responsibilities is difficult

Under her leadership it has flourished, and using capital from her venture she effectively owns an entire region. When her spouse passed she lost her only source of income but claims to her daughters to still be retired.
