History: Her parents moved while she was still in utero so she is the first generation to be born here. She was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. She is searching for what she claims is her rightful reward.

History: He served in the navy to pay for his family's outstanding loans. His father was a soldier and died while he was still young. Zook was left his father's suit of armor and trained in its use and care. He has since lost track of the people in his past.

Personality: He hates dire rats. He views them as having robbed his home of its proper glory. He is a great chef.

History: Gifted from a young age, Kiirith studied abroad. In his 14th year, his parents were killed by a dire rats raid, leaving Kiirith alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. He moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

Personality: She resents people who mock her appearance or her, so she has learned to be the meanest son of a gun. She is very protective of her business, her home, and her spouse. She is willing to work with less than legal methods but maintains the front of legitimacy.

History: She was raised in a desert tribe. Being born in the north, she completed her medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. She returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. She was a general practitioner in the north for years, until she, through no fault of her own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal she made her way south. By chance she met her sister recently and the two have been together since.

Motivation: She is wracked by social anxiety; and doesn't want to be a map maker and was forced into it by her family
