History: She comes from a rich northern family. Through the years after Mara was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the north. History: Vani hails from a village terrorized by orcs. She always admired arcane-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. She knows her nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but her.

History: He is the product a well kept family trust fund and as such has never really known need. Balam was born on a far western island where he grew up under the tutelage of his mother, an expert Spy. He has made many enemies by not giving into corruption and outing many instances of it.
