When money was particularly tight she was walking through alleys when she overheard a Guard hiring some criminals to sabotage a competitor. She made her way to the other competitor and parlayed her knowledge into a job. She struck the Guard job and began her own company from there.

She would practice along the way and, when she arrived, be apprenticed to a Bellfounder. She routinely visits covens of witches but complains that many are fraudulent and lack true knowledge of magic.
