Through the years after Mindartis was born, his father became increasingly distant from his family, instead choosing to pursue power in the west. Mindartis's father didn't care for him much, and the feeling was mutual. He left for the west, certain he would find work there.

History: She was born to a criminal king-pin and mafia family As a very small child her family refused to pay dues to a local crime lord, who ordered them killed. Her mother, a somewhat powerful mage sought to protect her and cast a teleportation spell that whisked her away. By chance she met her brother recently and the two have been together since.

Motivation: She is being blackmailed/forced/etc and this influences her actions.

History: He grew up in a lower middle class home, but living comfortably wasn't enough. Before the accident, he was one of the most outspoken anti-Half-Elven activists.
