History: She was born the only child of a wealthy merchant. A gypsy cursed her at a young age, leading to her ugly appearance. She moves from town to town, unable to find a place to settle.

History: She was raised happily, as a normal child born to her father and mother. Her father taught her the rudiments of the Mason arts, while her mother instructed her in etiquette, music and courtly manner. She couldn't stand her childhood mentor and eventually formed a pact with her mentor's previously failed apprentice to rebel. When their plan failed the mentor lashed out against both of them and fled. She has never given up on her writing dream.

History: Born in the north to a Dyer, Volen learned a great deal about her mother's area of expertise. Her childhood dream was to be a Weaver, but she was a colossal failure. Days after completing her studies, news broke out that her hometown was attacked by gnolls. Volen was horrified and prayed that her father was alright. However, she heard that her father had died fighting off the gnolls.
