It turned out to be an ancient artifact of some kind. He has done his darndest to repair it but it is currently non-functional.

History: Jelenneth was born into a poor family. Growing up, she dreamt of becoming a Monk, to bring honor to her family’s name. When she came of age, she applied for a position with her town's local guard, looking to work her way up via merit and eventually become a Monk in service of a powerful lord somewhere. She was part of a huge silver rush, which was taken over by a mining company. The company confiscated a lot of silver, but the shipment was lost. Lacking all sense, she decided to go on an adventure. She picked a direction and started trekking.

History: Sweet lived on a farm with her mother, near the main road leading to a nearby town. She moved from fad to fad and when she turned 15 she discovered painting. She was recently attacked on the road and savagely beaten by bandits.

His face is full, his cheeks are rosy, and he always seems to sport a perfect smile and a twinkle in his amber eyes.

Personality: He is a jovial happy person, but he is convinced people are living their lives too quickly. He lacks moral complications. He does what he is told to by employers but not much else. He spends his money on whatever he fancies at the time.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious southern family, he was no stranger to responsibility. When he came of age, he joined a caravan that would eventually take him to the capital. He would practice along the way and, when he arrived, be apprenticed to a Mercenary. He now mingles about in high society.
