He never won. Days after completing his studies, news broke out that his hometown was attacked by giants. Astar was horrified and prayed that his mother was alright. However, he heard that his mother had died fighting off the giants.

In his 11th year, his parents were killed by a giants raid, leaving Howard alone in the world. After a stint in an orphanage, he was adopted. Recently a tribe of giants attacked the village and all able bodies who could hold a blade were quickly armed and sent to the walls. Howard fought at the side of some of the regions greatest heroes but was never overshadowed.
