His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Gilthur grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Gilthur. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Under his leadership it has flourished, and using capital from his venture he effectively owns an entire region. He has been saving his money to try and buy his sister's freedom.

She is fiercely devoted to her mother, and views her mother's ex-spouse as an evil person for separating her from her legal half-brother.

History: She was born on a small isolated farm. Her mother disappeared, and while she tried to raise money to find her mother, she was betrayed dozens of times. She now mingles about in high society.
