Personality: Abrasive and pushy, he has a hard time making friends. He loves his children and doesn't want them to worry about him. He loves to share his singing with anyone who is interested.

History: He was a bastard born out of an affair, and his father always resented and mistreated him for it out of spite. Being born in the west, he completed his medical training abroad so as to avoid the war. He returned after the war having achieved medical proficiency. He was a general practitioner in the west for years, until he, through no fault of his own, lost a patient who had a very powerful family. Rather than risk reprisal he made his way east. He is searching for what he claims is his rightful reward.

Personality: Aggressive, abrasive, and angry, Meena embodies much of what other species detest in the Gnomes. The war was a terrible time for her, and Meena does not often speak of it. When she does, she does so with a strained expression and tears in her eyes.

History: She was born several months after her father was called into army service. Through the years after Meena was born, her father became increasingly distant from her family, instead choosing to pursue power in the east. Meena's father didn't care for her much, and the feeling was mutual. She was betrayed by a partner and left for dead, teaching her a humbling lesson in trusting others.

Personality: He fancies himself a trickster and likes to rely on his wits to carry the day. He cares for his older siblings and likes to be recognized by them. To his fellows he is seen as friendly and intelligent, but is angry and unforgiving to the so called fatcats and any who do and have associated with them.

History: Born the oldest of a large religious western family, he was no stranger to responsibility. He was married off to the eldest child of a minor noble. His spouse died of illness and he inherited everything. He knows his nephew is from a royal line that had remained secret for centuries, but promised not to tell anyone. So far, no-one knows but him.

Motivation: To be a Courier again; and an old rival family wants him found

Personality: She is inclined to make off color jokes and interpret anything that could be construed as such as innuendo. She is always in debt, since she spends her money on lavish parties and gifts for friends

History: She was born at the edge of vast forest. When she was little, her rather wealthy family often ventured across the forest to a summer home near a ruined castle. She would wander through that ruined castle and adventure through it for days. One day while adventuring a terrible storm took place and she was stranded inside. Her family spent the next few days looking for her, and could only assume she was dead when it came time to leave. The family never returned to the forest due to the painful memories there. Vani took refuge in the ruined castle and found the beat up nunchaku and armor she uses now. She has set out to sabotage the competition.

History: The child of northern immigrants she idolized her father. She was taken as a slave by a traveling circus and forced to perform She now has a substantial network of resources ranging from contacts to ships to peers.

Motivation: Retire the richest woman in the north; and she is currently in port desperately looking for someone to get her out
