History: When he was but 8 years old his parents immigrated from the south. His parents died when he was young, and he was unceremoniously dumped in the city orphanage. Shadow grew up in the orphanage, tormented by the older kids and famished from lack of food. To avoid death by starvation, most orphans take to a life of crime or prostitution (often both), and so did Shadow. He now mingles about in high society.

History: Born in the north to a Bricklayer, Harriet learned a great deal about her father's area of expertise. In her youth she was part of a gang. She got caught, but did not rat out her comrades and served her time in prison. She has since married many spouses, only to have them die. She claims to not be responsible.

Personality: She is irritable and easily angered. She is a bit of a bully and is not afraid to use her stature and powers to intimidate and hurt. Animals are drawn to her, and she is able to talk to them.

History: She was born several months after her mother was called into army service. She always admired psionic-users and wanted to develop the talent, but never had the affinity for it. She remains aloof and afraid to be herself due to all the ideals others have placed upon her.
